Randolph Youth Theater Company (RYTC) is proud to announce the schedule for 2016-17, the 13th season of shows for the company. The first show will be held at North Asheboro Middle School and the final two will be at the Sunset Theater. See below for information on the new location for our Christmas play!
Fall Show, October 13-16, 2016 – The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf by Joseph Robinette, directed by Devan Ward. The Wolf: villain or victim? The Three Pigs: innocent or at fault? The Jurors (Miss Muffet, Bo Peep, Cinderella and Humpty-Dumpty, to name a few): solid citizens or characters with a past? This play examines the guilt, or innocence, of the accused from different points of view.
Christmas Show, December 1-4, 2016 – A Christmas Carol by Bobby Bodford, directed by Bodford. The classic Charles Dickens holiday tale gets a different, lighter touch here. This show will be in downtown Asheboro at the Sunset Theater, fitting in nicely with all of the holiday decorations and themes the city will have on display.
Spring Show, March 23-26, 2017 – The Little Mermaid by R. Eugene Jackson, directed by Jim Shover. Adapted from the Hans Christan Andersen story. Anemone, an adventurous little mermaid, leaves her undersea realm for a 16th birthday excursion to the surface. She hopes to find the prince of her dreams, whose statue she has found. But she’ll have to win him over without the use of her voice.
RYTC encourages everyone to come out and try out for the shows. Auditions are held at the Randolph Arts Guild and those for the Fall Show take place on August 28 (2-4 p.m.) and 29 (6-8 p.m.); auditions for the Christmas Show are on October 23 (2-4 p.m.) and 24 (6-8 p.m.) and auditions for the Spring Show are on January 8 (2-4 p.m.) and 10 (6-8 p.m.)
